Nothing is torn out, so there is no demolition, no re-plumbing and no re-wiring.

Why Every Website Gives You a Different Number
Search the cost of refacing a kitchen and the first page of Google will tell you it is $508, $2,009, $6,750, $15,000 and $25,000 — a fifty-fold spread for the same job. That is not because the work varies that much. It is because those figures are measuring different things and none of them says so.
The lowest are peel-and-stick veneer kits, or the cost of doing a single cabinet. The highest are national averages that quietly include full cabinet replacement. In between sit lead-generation sites publishing ranges wide enough to be true of any job in the country. Very few of them are a contractor naming a price for work they would actually turn up and do — which is the only kind of number worth anything to you.
What Changes the Price
In roughly the order they matter.
How many doors and drawer fronts you have
The count is the multiplier. A galley kitchen and an L-shaped one with an island are different jobs at the same rate per piece.
Door style and material
The whole spread from the low end of the range to the high end. A flat-panel laminate and a raised-panel hardwood are the same labor and very different materials.
Drawer boxes
Replacing the boxes behind the fronts, rather than only the fronts, is the most common addition.
Hardware
Hinges and handles are included. Soft-close mechanisms and pull-outs are not.
Glass, accessories and panels
Glass inserts, spice pull-outs and panels to hide a dishwasher each add to the count.

When Refacing Is the Wrong Answer
The most-asked question about refacing is what is wrong with it. Here is the honest answer, because you will find out either way — better now than after a deposit.
Refacing does not change your layout. If you want the sink moved, a wall taken down or the range relocated, no amount of new doors gets you there. That is a remodel, and we will tell you so rather than sell you a kitchen you will still want to change.
It cannot fix a failing box. A cabinet swollen under a leaking sink, shelves that sag, a carcass coming apart at the joints — the box is the part refacing keeps, so a bad one stays bad behind a new door. We check for this at the estimate, and where we find it we say the boxes need replacing.
It is not the cheapest option. Painting the doors you already have costs a few hundred dollars in materials and a weekend. If the budget is the binding constraint and the door style is fine, paint them. Refacing is worth its price when the style is what you want changed.
